I've started posts like that before, haven't I? hm.
About noon - when most of my peers probably have combed hair and brushed teeth - I get a knock on my door. My kids gave it away that I was home, so I had to answer it. With uncombed hair and unbrushed teeth. And my grubbies...all my nice clothes were swinging in the breeze on the line. I could have, in hindsight, I suppose..pointed out that I do actually have nicer clothes, but that probably would have seemed a little odd.
It was a neighbor from around the corner - the one who always dresses so nice, the one who has 4 kids under the age of 5 (twins..the girls) and they are always pristine as well. The one who's yard is always immaculate and a peek in front door reveals cute little Pottery Barn shelfs with one jacket per kid hung nicely in a row. Yeah. her. Never met her before - but I see them taking their family walk around the block in the evening like clockwork and I think to myself - 'wow..how does she do it?' She's obviously not a hobby person.
So. She came to my door to ask me if her dog has been bothering us..if it barks too much. So besides always dressing nice and keeping her home and yard all neat...she has time to be considerate of her neighbors. I answered as best as a grungy person can while trying to cover the fuzz on her teeth that no....the dog's fine.
And I revealed some information to her that, were she to realize...she would know that I inherited my grandma's curiousity when it comes to the neighbors. When she had come to the door, you see...I totally gave myself away by saying...Oh! You're the one with the twins! And the cute pottery barn hooks in your foyer.
Does that kind of thing ever happen to anyone else? Anyone???
