As many of you know, I'm not much of a purse person - but it does offer up a dilemma in the warmer months when I can't stuff everything I own into my jacket pockets. I had actually purchased a purse that I really like a few months ago (the blue one in the upper right of the photo) but it didn't last long at all. It was the very definition of, "you get what you pay for"
Add that to some cute patterns in that new book I bought - and I was found wanting to make a new one. I decided to use what I could from the old purse, and find fabric in my stash that went with it.
What I decided to use off the old purse was the strap. I took it off right where it connects to the purse and moved it over to the new project.
I ran into a problem with the pieces that attach to the purse. I searched the house high and low for webbing - looking closely at backpacks, tent bags, totes and belts - but nothing was quite right for the project - wrong color and size mostly. I ended up finding a sash to one of Wendy's dresses and using that. Don't tell her. She never wore that dress much anyway.
It doesn't match the longer handle perfectly - but it's close enough and I'm really not fussy. If I had planned better I would have bought something - but I just hate having to put a project away for one item and I needed the purse done last week - the whole zipper was broken on the other and taking it anywhere was risky. All my money (hahahhahahaha) might have fallen out or something.
The flap of the purse has a clear pocket on it, which is what is holding the photo in this picture. This pocket worked real well last night to carry my Kohl's coupon and shopping list.
My next one will be black and gray.
It's a good thing
Thank you on all the computer advice/suggestions. I've run a crap cleaner, took the thing outside and blasted the dust out of it, backed up my hard drive and it's now what I'm typing on. My biggest hurdle was getting past the fact that it didn't want to recognize my keyboard, so I got the screen/mouse keyboard up and running and used that to get in. Once I was in, my keyboard worked fine. Go fig. I'm running it now to see if the same problems spring up or if something I did managed to help. Time will tell. Meanwhile I'll back up all my cookies, favorites and actions.
