fact: I like to take pictures of my school kid's art work and put the photos here and there in my albums so I don't feel quite so guilty about throwing the actual work away.
I suffer a lot of guilt.
Yesterday was a fairly quiet day around here. The big excitement of the day was that my husband landed a lathe and tools from a guy at work for a very good price. The main reason the guy was getting rid of them was because he didn't know how to sharpen his tools. This is a very common scene at our house - my husband and kids all know how to sharpen knives. He's also made a few of his own knives from scratch. It's rave on about my husband week.
Anyway - he got this new lathe and we're all excited and now he's trying to figure out how to use it and in doing so, the first piece of wood went flying across the garage at an amazing speed and nearly took out the tire on the third unicycle. He thinks he's got the hang of it now, but he's anxious for my youngest brother to get home from his honeymoon so he can come over and show him some tips and tricks.
Meanwhile I've declared the garage off limits while dad is on the lathe
Which might have been the intended goal all along.....

My printer is acting up, so I'm hoping I can keep the pace on my December album
Wendy at dinner in a conversation about the neighbors: Mom - at Alison's house they eat so, like, politely. Like, they use napkins and everything.

Laughing at Wendys comment. AT our house you are lucky if we eat at the table LOL.

Good morning! I remember the day my dad got his Mark V lathe. I was about six or seven. It came in a HUGE box and he had to go pick it up. He had the garage to work in, too. We moved when I was eight into the house they are living in now. He has a whole workshop. The lathe sits right in the middle. Speaking of sharpening knives, my Uncle Jeff is a real talent at keeping things sharp. My dad is good, but Jeff has a talent! Tell him to have fun and be really, really careful!
