While I'm hip deep in laundry over here today, I thought I'd share an update on my laundry soap.
Remember that batch of laundry soap I made back in November of 2009 using the Duggar family recipe? Get this - I just finished that batch in August of 2011. It lasted us very close to two years. Now that's a savings!! And I'm washing for six of us.
I cheated and bought some detergent for the last month, but yesterday - I mixed another batch, so now I'm set again for the next year and a half or so. I figure it'll last me a little bit less this time since the kids are getting bigger and more involved in activities, but no matter how you break it down you can't deny the savings. And we need all the savings we can get, right?
Off to play catch up.

Did you add any essential oil to it? I find it hard to believe my clothes are clean if I can't smell a scent on them. What did you store your soap in?
Also I 'borrowed' your Finlander joke the other day and put it on my Facebook page and had quite the conversation. Fun! Thanks :)

I usually add lavender. We're out of it right now though, so I've added Rosemary to today's batches. And we have ours stored in a five gallon bucket with a lid. When I mix it, I put the mixed stuff into two old liquid detergent containers.

I am assuming you are happy with how it is cleaning since you have been using it for the last 2 years? Just curious.

That's so funny, I broke down last month for the first time since I've been making laundry soap too. It was the "end of August kids need to get back to school" frazzles that broke me I think! (-:
