I'll say it again: I love this project
These are the types of things I want to remember years from now.
I have several goals with this project, and one is this. To capture background in the photos I include. I love the memory triggers that the toys in the background provide, or the appliances in the kitchen.
Ask yourself this - when you look through photos from when you were a child, do you look at just the faces, or do you find yourself looking all around the photo for glimpses from the past. Memory triggers. Me? I totally look all around the photo - and that's what I want to happen in this album.
A close up here and there are okay - but mostly, we're capturing life.
I love this project for the journaling cards. I've been a diary keeper and a memory jotter downer my whole life. I love that I can just pull a card and write a little glimpse of our week at any point during the 7 days and pop it in.
I also scribbled a note on my Costco gas receipt. Gas at Costco was 24 cents per gallon cheaper than at the gas station around the corner from our house.
Mark loves to do "Patter-ins". Love having this place to jot those words. We should have a whole new language by 2013.
I included another insert in this week - 2 photos per side. My thought at the beginning of the week is that I would have a before and after photo on one side of the front of our house (wednesday and saturday) and a before and after photo on the back of Brian's tooth. But Brian's tooth fell out on Sunday - the first day of the week 3. My kids are so uncooperative.
So instead, I included on the other side a photo of our dinner, and a journaling card about how we do things when dad is gone for the week on a work trip.
The artwork that Brian brought home this week, included in an 8.5 x 11 page protector. I might have to pull this out and frame it.
Allan's doodles on the flip side. Allan doodles all day every day.
I included a few pictures from Greg's business trip to Arizona - accidentally forgetting to crop the one and flip it before I printed it, but I'm not going to worry about it - I'll leave it as is.
I also purposely but Brian's 'before' picture in the lower right corner of this page so I can put his after picture on the lower right of the next page.
Because that's the way my brain works.
Now to throw my camera in a bag and take Wendy to get her braces......
