Wendy came home from school yesterday saying - "oh, and mom, I need to bring in a valentine box tomorrow". Mind you, I was busy with dinner, my husband was getting home from Chicago a couple hours later than expected, and Brian had Cub Scouts.
ha.
Luckily, I had this Winter Wonderland paper from My Little Shoebox on my desk from some projects I had done in January for a review at Scrap Review (the review hasn't posted yet...but is slated for this week)
In the review I had mentioned that this line does well to cover all the winter months - from Christmas, to winter activities - to Valentines Day.
So it was an easy grab to do Wendy's Valentine Box with. I love the whimsy and color of the polka dots. We cut the paper to size, mod podged it to the box, cut a hole in the top - total time - 'bout 15 minutes. Perfect. Wendy dug through the scrap paper bin then and added the heart.
As for Cub Scouts - we took a tour of the security system at our local Medilodge, and the boys got to learn how to use the fire extinguishers - a highlight of the evening. That's Brian at bat in the photo.

We came home from Cubs to find our dad home - enjoying some quiet time in his Lazyboy. He's home for a couple days, and it's looking like he'll probably be gone this next weekend as well.

Wendy had a rough day yesterday. Those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile, will remember that day last summer when she was blacking out on me and was eventually diagnosed as being highly senstive to talk of blood and anything medical. She's struggled with it for over five years already that I'm aware of.
Yesterday it was brought up in class how the son of the teacher in the neighboring room - has cancer. It was brought up to explain that teacher's absence, since the teachers work so well together - and it was brought up so that the class can share their support in cards, etc.
Wendy had to be brought to the office as she nearly blacked out.
And then she came with us to the nursing home last evening. She came because she wanted to bring a picture to Kate, who we had met last spring when we went with Girls on the Run.
When we went with Girls on the Run, we were with 30 other girls and went straight to the dining area and focused on one person. When we went last night - we wandered the halls and she realized - "Mom, this feels really really like a hospital" She had to keep her head down and was pretty ghostly white.
She's got a personality that's really fun to tease, but the boys have learned to respect her on this issue. It was cute, when during our Cub Scout tour, one of the older boys began mentioning how the room that we were in was a training room for some emergency procedures - and Brian piped up, "Oh - we can't talk about any of that kind of stuff because my sister is here" in a very caring and concerned way.
Wendy groaned.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Maybe when child bearing years come, she will pass out during labor and wake up when it's over.
