So as I mentioned in yesterday's post - I decided that instead of making cards all day - I better take advantage of the weather and get crackin' on the kitchen. I went for my morning walk, then came home and tore into it.
I completely emptied all the uppers (coffee cups, casserole dishes and cookbooks all over the couches)
I covered as much as I could with sheets (and got the sheets in the wash by 1:30 and out on the line - perfect windy day to get them all dried and put away in record fashion) and made happy with the sander. I knew that I could have just gone over the cabinets with the Gripper Primer - but the truth is, I couldn't. I tried to rationalize it in my mind - but I couldn't.
Sanding made me happy - mess and all. Now I know that any food splatters are gone, all that grease residue that comes from having a gas stove - gone - and my cabinets are smooth. I washed them all inside and out, and finished priming 10 minutes before I had to pick up the littles from school.
Ta-Dah!
There is still a lot to do. My husband will paint the uppers, we still have to do the pantry, and I have something else in mind for all the end caps. I'm working really hard not to start another project until this one is done (but it's not easy).
It's feeling nice and fresh - that was my goal. Right now I'm thinking the new dishwasher and countertops might have to wait until spring, but we'll see. The weather is turning cold early and Greg's been busy at work.
Last night I went to a weddng shower (Jade's), and laughed until my stomach hurt.
My Handwriting was yesterday's photo assignment. I fill out this white board every Sunday evening. We live by this board. Today is blissfully empty on the square but in reality I have to do a grocery run, get Wendy a shirt for that choir thing tomorrow, and asst other nonsense.
Today's assignment is signage. I took this one in 2006.
Some of you locals will recognize this one. Any kid who has walked from school to town knows this sign. Gross, right? But kinda cool....
Tomorrow....cards. Not as many as I had hoped for but some, and hey - my kitchen is coming along. Keepin' the balance....
Yuck - is that gum stuck all over the back of that sign?

THe town where I went to college had BubbleGum Alley. I love BubbleGum Stopsign almost as much.

I found the white board at Staples. Love it. I believe I saw them at Meijers recently as well
