What a weekend.
Friday - Field Trip.
We panned for gold.
(not sure why the spacing is all messed up on this particular post. My apologies)
Got the laundry done.
Climbed a rock wall.
Hung out in a teepee.
And ran an obstacle course. That's probably just half of what we did on that field trip - always a busy one.
I have absolutely no recollection of Friday night. I think I might have made lists.
Saturday morning we woke up and tackled Saturday cleaning.
Then did yard work for a couple hours. I've been on a mission to get the yard winter ready before the winter weather comes. Seems like a short length challenge this year.
Then at about 3:30 - the doorbell started ringing. Wendy had been wanting a sleepover so planned it around the towns Halloween festival. She always struggles with who to invite - we wish we had more room. For this sleepover she decided on all the girls from 6th grade that go (or had gone) to both her school and Sunday School. That equaled 9 girls counting Wendy. Everyone was able to come. Yay!
After eating, we headed to town. I did a lot of counting.
1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8....9
1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8....9
1.2.3.4.5.6.7.....hey...is that Santa Claus?
Hey! Is that my boys!?!
Hey, is that...oh...1.2.3.4.5.6....
*this* was interesting.
We only stayed in town for an hour this year. It was crowded. It was cold. and we were very bummed that there was no haunted alley or haunted depot. What up?
Jessa and Wendy in the back.
Molly, Emily, Alison, Courtney, Leena, Tiara and Delayney (sp?) in the front.
And to the mom who told me to make sure her daughter wore comfortable shoes to town - I did that. "Your mom said to make sure you have comfortable walking shoes" I might have gotten an eye roll.

Back at home, they got out of costumes and into their pj's - had some snacks and the giggling began.
Uncle George came over just after 11. I suggested at one point that maybe he could pull out the guitar, might help lull the girls. Besides, Tippy likes guitar. George always gives Tippy treats - so Tippy doesn't stray far when George is over.
Pretty soon there was a break in the giggling long enough that the girls were able to hear the playing/singing and started venturing down.
My scheme worked. They started heading upstairs about one, and I never heard another peep out of them after 2. Ta-Dah!
Wake up call was a 9am.
What we did learn is that 9 girls don't all fit in Wendy's room. It was like a sauna in there. At least one crawled out at one point and slept kinda in the hallway/with a head in the next bedroom. We long for more space, but we make do. Now we know what we need to 'tweek' for next time.
All 9 girls got dressed and cleaned up through one bathroom and then came downstairs for Baked French Toast before we piled bags/costumes/sleeping bags into the van for the short trek to Sunday School.
Oh. And they managed to talk Mr. T into getting the train to go around the circle. If anyone mentions that it was dust that made it hard to get going - they're lying.
After church - home - planned for a lazy day. Changed into my sweats and a hoody, laid down for a few minutes, ate leftover french toast for lunch, gave my dad a call to see how he was doing.
Ended up going to my dads. I think I mentioned before that I inherited my ocd tendencies from him. I totally 'got it' when he said he would really have liked to have gotten all his leaves to the curb before this weeks crappy weather. Afterall, that's what I did in our yard on Saturday.
I kept a close watch out for the 96 shooter and headed out. Did a couple hours of yard work - and got some good coffee and a visit in. We both slept better last night for it. Really really crappy forecast for this week.
Having just had french toast for breakfast and french toast for lunch, when I left my dad's just after 7....I called George (he lives just a mile from my dad) I said, hey - George - got any of those pasties left? (George brought pasties over twice in the last week) He said no. I said oh. Turns out all George had eaten was french toast at my house for breakfast and sardines and crackers for lunch.
We went to Koney Island. It was good.
Watched for the 96 shooter again and made it home just int time for bedtime prayers. As I walked in the door the boys were all - Hey Mom! We got to use real carving knifes for our pumpkins this year!
Awesome.
Happy Monday!
be good.

I love hearing about your adventures and seeing pics of your home.

If you're driving on 96, I don't wanna hear about it. That crap freaks me out.
