So - one of my goals for February was to contact a gym.
And I did that. I filled out an online form that says: Send us your contact information. One of our instructors will follow up with you immediately to schedule an appointment to tour the facility, and take you through your first no obligation workout
In my mind, I was thinking immediately meant that I better not fill out the form at midnight unless I want a phone call at 12:05.
It's been about ten days since I filled out the form, and nobody has called. This just confirms my belief that gyms don't actually like new people in the first two months of the year.
SO. Dejected and budget conscious, I decided - screw it - I'll just order my own equipment, and with that - added to what I already have - I can create my own circuit.
Order placed and received (and still no phone call) I completed my first circuit last night.
I began with my bike. (above) I biked for five minutes/1 mile. I kept the resistance between 1 and 2 just because I'm easing in.
Also in my circuit is my twisty board. I've had this one for awhile - felt good to pull it out again.
My 3 pound weights. I have a variety of options with these - I aim to do something different each time around the circuit.
My five pound weights. Ditto.
A Quick Pro Ladder
And my new favorite - an 8 pound medicine ball. This came with a nice printout of exercise options and I also find a nice variety on this site.
Also used/added but not pictured
Planks
Crunches
A 10 pound weight bar - using for a crunch slash kayak strengthening.
Jumprope
Resistance Bands.
Steps.
Fits nicely around our little circle home. I went around my self-made circuit twice - took me 35 minutes. A good first day. What I like about this system is that I can do it easily in the hours that are often the most available to me - before 7:30 am and after 9pm, which are also the hours that I can't play my DVD'S because I need to crank the volume too loud.
Ideal.

I found this 10-in-10 workout on Pinterest and tried it. Whew--it's tough if you're not in tip-top shape, but after trying it I felt great all day. Haven't done it again, because frankly I don't have the commitment yet. But you might like this one, given your determination. It's cardio and works every muscle in your body, all in 10 min.

This is better than a gym. So much more convenient and a lot more budget friendly. Good work, Sharyn!

better to be at home for exercise....gym means too much time getting ready to go, dressing for the public, combing your hair, brushing teeth, driving to gym, parking, ya da ya doo....
