It was a busy week last week added to various hacks and sick bugs - so I didn't do very well on preparing for Brian's birthday. We ended up in wing it mode.
I did, however, make some treats for him to bring to class today. I went with the Hershey Bar wrapper and was admittedly bummed when I remembered that the packaging is now one layer and no longer has the silver inner layer. Wah! But they turned out cute just the same. Papers are from my very retro KI Paper stash, and the stamp is from the Turn 29 set. (1 point for retro, 3 points for making 24 wrappers for class!)
I had no energy to bake or shop for a cake on Saturday, so Brian and I went and checked out the new bakery in town to see what they had for cakes. They don't have any cakes ready-made (have to call two days ahead) but they had cupcakes. Brian, who had originally requested a strawberry cake was very pleased and easy to switch to green frosted cupcakes.
They also gave him a free clover cookie when they heard it was his birthday, so he was feeling pretty special.
They were good!
After lunch - the guys (Brian, Mark, Allan, my husband and George) all went to Great Escape and rode gocarts. Brian and Mark are both too short, so they rode shoddy with Greg and Allan. They came home full of excitement about how fun it was. I forgot to check my husband's phone for photos.
One of Brian's gifts was Fart Bombs. Learn from our experience - don't explode these in the house. Wow. We opened all the windows and doors (and put on our jackets) and it still stunk an hour later. Gross.
Brian and Mark spent a good portion of the afternoon working on Brian's new Lego set.
It was a good day.
I even made it to the gym for the first time since LAST Sunday.

- Mark - Swimming. Two classes left
- Wendy starts volleyball
- Conferences x 2
- Hoping to get to the gym 4x
- trying to prepare for travels and Easter
- Working at least twice
- a wedding on Saturday
- Greg is still on overtime (and probably will be until the end of July)
- busy busy.
