Today is our ninth day of summer vacation. (out of 82)
I honestly pictured myself blogging with more regularity over the summer. *cue laughter
I've been trying to get a snapshot of all four kids together since the last day of school for what I had in my head as the first blog post of summer and nine days in it has yet to even be a possibility. Plan B.
The thing is - we hit the ground running. Our last day of school was on a Wednesday. That Wednesday evening was Media Night for Balloonfest, Thursday was spent cleaning and packing (and trying to keep the emotions at bay in regards to the finality of our last day of our school....but that's another blog post), and Friday morning my mom and I headed to Upper Michigan for a quick weekend trip.
Home Monday evening in time for Wendy to work - I spent this week trying to catch up on the gym, taking Brian to diving lessons, karate, a day at school helping with interviews and now here we are, suddenly, nine days in and in the midst of Balloonfest.
Last night had us at the pilots meeting at 6pm and again at 7:30 where it was confirmed - too windy to fly. A few inflated on the field, but nobody went up. Oh, last night also had me stuck in the mud.
I came home after the ballooner's dinner, picked up Mark and headed back for the fireworks.
This morning we were back at another pilot's meeting for 6am.
(Today is the first day all year that I've not made our bed)
The pilots got the clear to fly using their own judgement. About 20 out of 50 flew. Most of us watched while shaking our heads. The wind was blowing enough that I had to keep pushing my hair out of my eyes. We went out for breakfast at Red Olive.
The winds have definitely been picking up throughout the afternoon, so we'll see what happens come this evening. My fingers are crossed for the Balloon Glow.
I brought Mark and Allan up to enjoy the carnival - thankful that Mark has a partner other than me this year, and Wendy walked to work today in order to avoid the town traffic and probable parking issues. I'm enjoying a quiet moment to get some lists made and do a bit of studying on what I need for my backpacking trip.
Greg and Brian are up in St. Ignace for their annual car show adventure. Mark will meet the age requirement for that trip next year.

Next week brings more diving, soccer camp, camping preparations and more overtime for the man of the house. And a blog post or two.
Happy summer!
be good
