Last Thursday marked the last elementary school concert for this house. We've been attending elementary school concerts for eighteen years.
I may have been a little emotional last week. It was the first time EVER that I've reserved myself a seat for the concert and took front row, and then I was only persuaded to do so because the music teacher asked if I'd take pictures.
Boy, am I ever glad that she asked me to take pictures. Mark can be a bit of a ridiculously literal rule follower at times, and at others - he'll pull on some snazzy socks (officially his new favorite thing), add a twirl to his routine and pop a wave to mom and dad right in the middle of his performance.
Mark's soccer coach made a discovery just last week, after having had Mark for two seasons already, "Mark is FUNNY!" He is. He just takes awhile to show it. You might have to know him for two years first. I'm grateful he quickly adjusted to his merged fifth grade year and has been able to let his personality shine through.
We have seventeen more days together in the school. I started working when he was in kindergarten. It's going to be an odd adjustment for both of us, but it's time. There are some people who assume I'll try to get up into the middle school when I no longer have kids at elementary, but no - not at this time. The stories that the kids bring home are enough for me - I'm not going to choose to hang out there. ;) I'm a bit attached to the littles.
As for today - soccer practice was cancelled (cold rain) = jammies on and a bonus night of catching up on things.
