Happy March!

 

I always flip that page to March a little bit apprehensively.  It seems that my January and February in comparison are pretty laid back, relaxed, without a lot of school and social obligations - but once March hits - it's pell-mell fast paced cleared thru the New Year. 

This year is no exception.

In March alone we have two birthdays, I'm shooting two weddings, more deadlines, the beginning of spring break (and we still have no clue what we're doing, if anything), Mark's tubes and a hodge podge of other things. The beginning of busy.

I'm glad I enjoyed a little book reading the last few days while I still could.  :)

I'm off to eat a bowl of hot cereal for breakfast - I'll come back in a bit with some recent layouts I did.

Did I really win if I'm so very exhausted?

Last nights battle took place at 3am, and didn't go quite as well as the previous night - but we hung tough, despite the fact that he woke up the one year old.

I think it was harder for him the second night because it dawned on his little brain that I meant business if I was saying the same thing two nights in a row.  He chose to sleep in the cozy little next of blankets I made beside our bed and hold my hand.

The only problem is that our bed is a tad higher than the normal bed and I could barely reach him, cut off my circulation and all that type of thing.  Thankfully it didn't take him too long to realize he wasn't liking that too much and he went back to his own bed.

Marky was up a couple times

It was the first morning in a long time that I really really struggled to wake up with my alarm.  I managed to crawl out of bed, wake up Allan and proceeded to fall asleep on the couch downstairs, I just woke up a few moments ago.  I can only assume that Allan got off safely as he's gone and his stuff is gone.

Wendy just woke up with a fever and a sore throat - a good excuse to finally have the doctor look at her throat and make sure alls well - I've been wondering about her tonsils as she still has a few choking scares.

And my list for today is much the same as yesterday, except now it looks like I'll toss in a visit to the doctors, and I'll put the book at the end of the list this time as I'm afraid it's all I did yesterday....altho now I'm anxious to finish it.......

Overheard

Wendy is in the kitchen making toast for herself and Brian.
She's yelling at Brian, "BRIAN! Quit snipping my butt!!"

Brian's giggling uncontrollably and not quitting as requested.

The funnier part to me is that Wendy is actually this homes biggest butt pincher, a trait inherited from her father's side.  They won't touch feet, but they pinch butts.  Bizarre.

A new snowbunny on the rise

Wendy has always been our snowbunny - lasting for hours on end, running in for a quick pee and a bite and heading right back out with fresh hat and mitts for more.

And Brian outlasted her yesterday. That was when Allan and I thumbwrestled for scooping duty and (he won) he went out and kept an eye on Brian while scooping the whole drive...which takes awhile. 

And then he pulled Brian around the block in the sled.

And then he stood by his side while they watched the plows go by.

And then they built a little snow fort and soon Allan was at the door saying, "mooom, he just wants to stay out here for.ev.er!"

I had to haul his frozen buttskie in the house.  Feet were red, fingers were red....wrapped him in a nice warm quilt and warmed him up with a nice hot bowl of chili.

And I thought, oh yes...this little boy is going to go to sleep goooood tonight!

I fell asleep on the couch at about 9:30, and when I rolled over at 11, he was having the run of the house, all bright eyed and bushy-tailed.  There's just something wrong about that...

Today they are going to the cousins and I'm going to enjoy a quiet day to myself, I'm not even sure what I'm going to do, but I am going to enjoy it....

Vacation is officially over

In regards to vacation being over, I figure I can just ditto Shaunte.  I love how she expresses things.  Locusts.  Totally. 

Other stuff

• I bring the youngest one in for his follow-up ear check-up this morning to see what's going on there and if we've actually cleared it up this time.  It's a good thing I like my doctor or I'd be a bit concerned about bringing in a baby who has a black eye and an egg on his head.  Kids should NOT learn how to walk before they are a full twelve months old.  He's walking 100% of the time now.  Bang. Clunk. Crash. Giggle. Cry.
• We started a new routine this morning.  My eldest is starving by lunch time so decided he wants a bigger breakfast.  We broke out the ham, eggs, swiss cheese and had a big 'ol feast this morning.  This house eats eggs.  I had bought 3 x 18 before I went up north and they were all gone by the time I got home.
• I ended up with a bug yesterday...it started out with a bad gut ache all day and ended with me shouting supper orders, after supper orders, pack your school bag orders and go to bed orders from the confines of the bathroom.  I think I'm better.  I called my brother Brian and let him know...he had a sick phobia while we were up north.  "Are you sick?"  "Are YOU sick?"  "Is anyone in YOUR house sick?"  and between you and me, I think he was the one passing it around...he left a trail.  Booger. 
• Pa took the big kids to the library last night and set up a display case...so check it out if you happen to go.  He and a fellow carver have it for the whole month of January, he thinks.  Years worth of carvings.  I'm anxious to see how he set it up...it's in the downstairs, by the stairs, I believe.  I couldn't hear what he was telling me thru the door last night.
• I don't think the stroller is going to work today to get miss W to school
• Half the street didn't get mail yesterday because they didn't shovel out their mailboxes.  But we did.  Because I'm an overachieving yooper with a scooper.  That, and I love my mail.
• Little girl snow bunnies should have more than one winter jacket. 
• Or learn how to hang them up better over the heater
• They ended up being out for over four hours in the morning and Wendy was out again by afternoon
• We ended up skipping ski club - it's a gamble, really.  The eldest was exhausted, I didn't feel good...and Pa wants to take Wendy on the hill the next time they go and he couldn't do that last night anyway.  Here's hoping we still have snow to go again.
• There was something else.....but I can't remember, I'll be back to edit, I'm sure
• Oh!  Now I remember!  Play-doh!  Brian got two big sets for Christmas...guess what they spent hours doing yesterday!  Gotta love play-doh.  Makes a mess, but sweeps up nice and it keeps them busy for a long long time.
• And....if anyone has any helpful hints on shoulder bursitis or tendinitis (still working on a self diagnosis) I'd love to hear them.  eta:  It's actually my left shoulder, not my mouse shoulder.  My thought is that it originally stems from rocking my boys to sleep...that's the arm they lay their head in.  It's been bothering me for over two months now - it's a struggle to put on my jacket and other things worn that require Houdini-like movements.   I was hoping it would heal in the four days that I was without the littles, but it hasn't.  The chiropracter said it's not 'out', it's something else.  It's bothersome.  Not painful, but hindering.
• All four kids need haircuts.  Badly.
• Whew...just noticed that it's -4 degrees.  Wendy is riding with the neighbor...I ended up being nervous about walking halfway and finding out that the stomach bug is not gone.  Or something.  That'd be bad.

And they're off

And I have no clue what they're doing.  I announced the annual, "hurryup and getinfrontofthetreequickbeforeyouleave" call and this is how they reacted.  No respect.

It stopped snowing, altho it's still windy. 
We had originally planned to get a sitter for the little boys and go in with Pa and the bigs, but the truth is, I'm not a good passenger...it was with mutual relief that we both decided I should just stay home.

I packed Wendy a bag with warmer clothes, boots and mittens in case they do spin out.

But they went.
The littles and I will listen on the speaker-phone just like last year.

Boy - on one hand, I'm so glad that I had the forsight to schedule appointments for the boys yesterday morning because yesterday was R.O.U.G.H.  Even with them both being on drugs

And last night was exhausting.  I scheduled a nap for this afternoon.

And now, just when I had started to feel caught up on things, I'm behind again.  Both boys needed some serious lovin' and huggin' yesterday and it's hard for one person to hold two.  We've tried.  So our day was pretty much devoted to the boy-lios.  And the night too.

So here's hoping that today finds them more on the mend.

Pa made that fence years ago, by the way.  I've never had a reason to recall it..and it's a favorite

Currently, it's a Brian favorite.  Look how nicely it holds up to his weight. Never mind that it's hard to play with it while protecting it.

Markie thinks he'd like for it to be his favorite too.  We're working on that.

And. Well.  It's not going real well.

I've never had two close together like this.  At what age can I look forward to them playing together rather than against?
