And remember, his name is Brian and he's three. It's funny, he's gotten into this thing where he HATES (and he lets us know) to be called anything but Brian. Even if I say, "see you later, Alligator" he responds, "I NOT an alligator, I BRIAN" It's a hard thing to keep in my head - we use fun names around here alot. But we're working on it.
A few more randoms
- He likes his shirts tucked into his cast (it's roomy enough in that area) not on top of. Again, very adamant about this.
- He's three (turned 3 a week ago today. What a week)
- He's diggin' the bean bag chair - it offers a new look and position
- He received some happy mail today from Wendy - thank you!!! I'm assuming that the M&M's are mine. heh. I kid.
- Today he's doing well - he and grandpa have completely covered the shelves that I just cleaned, with stickers. I'll let it go. This time.
- I'm going to give Markie a buzz today - his hair is driving me bonkers.
- Did I mention that Mark didn't sleep a wink last night either? It was a l-o-n-g night.
- The bellybutton is orange. Cute, yes?
- Sigh. The dowel now says "Do NOT lift!! Or Carve!!" Honest truth. The same guy that knicked his finger something good a couple weeks ago was eyeballing that dowel.
- I could never get thru these days without help - so thankful grandpa and grandma are close. Brian was sleeping on me this morning when Markie woke up and Wendy needed to be woke up. And Brian has not been waking up well - it's an hourlong procedure, BUT, knock on dowels - today he did wake up well - here's hoping.
- Markie is a handful.
All for now - time to switch out the laundry.
be good
and again - thank you!
oh torm! i love these little posts. i can tell it's good for your soul. your little breath of sanity. brian looks like he's a little trooper.

The "broken femur chair" is on the way with your brother. Now that i compare Brian's cast to how Kaden's was, i see that Brian's legs are farther apart. Now i'm wondering if he'll be too wide for the chair?! And there's a footrest for the good foot at the bottom, and it looks like they broke opposite legs. if the chair does work at all, that would just have to be taken off and swapped to the other side.
and i do like the orange bellybutton! Is the diaper on the outside of the cast the only one? It can't be. How would the cast not get all messed? We tucked one in the opening, but it looks good on the outside. Now i'm thinking it's probably holding the Poise, i mean, Depend in. :)

Oh my goodness... what an awfully scary thing to go through for everyone!
Poor little guy. I hope the nightmares stop soon. I can imagine how stressful this is... :(
I'll be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers for easier days ahead and quick healing!
HUGS!

Thanks Laura - hopefully it'll work - we'll adapt it if we can.
Brian's bottom is covered in 3 layers - first comes the men's incontinence pad (now I know why Pa was not putting them in his cart - HAH) then the size 2 diaper, cut into the shape of a big pad, and then the size 5 on top covering the top (holding it in) The first 2 layers are tucked in.
I talked to the doctors again today - and it does sound like the terrors could be from the anesthesia and/or the whole experience itself. He ended up getting a temp and discomfort this afternoon so we tried Motrin when the terrors began, and that seemed to help.
The doctors generally don't recommend Motrin, I guess, for bone breaks because it hinders healing, moreso in adults. I guess it's not as bad tho for kids who heal quicker anyway.
Learning so much this week

Sharyn, I'm so sorry to read about Brian! Bless his little heart! No experience w/ the anesthesia terrors, but maybe a bit w/ the other leg hurting. A number of years ago I somehow managed to step into a hole and broke an ankle. Always being an over-achiever :-), I managed to sprain the other ankle at the same time. My sprained ankle hurt a heck of a lot worse than the ankle that was actually broken and in the cast. So maybe he has twisted the other leg and pulled muscles, etc. that just aren't showing up in all the xrays. Poor little guy! I'll keep him (and all of you...) in my prayers.

{Love the bit about not carving.}
This is the first time my kids have seen any of these pictures. A million questions started flying at me...
When I explained how he had to go to the hospital after breaking his leg, Aapo was wondering, "Did they bring his leg there?"
I hope his nightmares go away soon, and that your little Markie starts to cooperate. Fast! I hope you can get some rest too. Sending lots of good thoughts your way.

Sharyn, you're in my thoughts and prayers all day long. I remember after my 2-year-old (now 8) had tonsils & adenoids out, the anesthesia gave her nightmares too. I felt like it lasted forever, but in thinking back, must've been several days. Hang in there. I really wish I could be there to help. Really, this will soon be a memory.

Oh goodness Torm . . my heart goes out to your family and little Brian (I guess I should not refer to him as "little" Brian . . gotta love the adorable age when every word is literal!). He certainly looks adorable in your photos, but this will certainly be a long haul. I'm glad Ally alerted me to Brian's situation because I haven't been over to scrapsupply in 4ever. I'll keep Brian and the entire family in my prayers. Renae Clark

Hi Sharyn, my thoughts are with you guys! Even though I always tell my kids not to jump on the couch I guess you never think it will happen to you! Hang in there, it should get easier right?
