So, meanwhile, while I was posting trip posts, a quilt and a blog hop - life was still happening and I feel as if I'm behind on posting again. So - a catch all post.
first - one more from the wedding. It had somehow got dropped in the wrong file and missed that blog post. My husband's sister Karen - always good for a laugh and a smile. Love her.
On the 3rd of August - when the kids were up north - my husband and I FINALLY got out on a kayaking date. The van is our kayak carrier, and it had to go to the shop on Monday, so we didn't dare drive it too far, It was at the nearby city park where we did our lap. It worked for me.
I walked to pick up the van on Tuesday - so of my kidless week, I was vehicle-less for four and a half days. Sigh. On Wednesday I went to the dentist and then kicked around Ikea for a couple hours, which resulted in me coming home to rearrange the living room to accommodate my purchases. I'll post pictures AFTER we get the walls painted and the floor done.
On Sunday the 4th, Sonja and I drove in circles trying to figure out where Denny was going to land that balloon. It wasn't easy.
He flew again on Saturday, but I was at a wedding, and Sunday - which we hoped for - didn't work out. The weather didn't work in our favor. Wednesday is the next hoped for flight.
Also on Sunday, which was a beautiful day, we woke up to no power. Not ones to play nice without our coffee, Greg pulled the camping percolator out of the basement and brewed 28 cups on the stovetop. We love having a gas stove in these situations.
The power was out for nearly 9 hours. Uncle George informed me that I looked like a gypsy in church. But hey, I was there.
On Thurday I went blueberry picking at our local blueberry farm. They were honoring the Wednesday special of a buck a pound. I picked twelve pounds - then came home and took a nap before cleaning them and freezing a majority of them while running the rest of the lot through our dehydrator.
I'll probably go again before summer is over if our schedule permits.
Other than that -
- battling houseflies and various other flying creatures
- The kids and grandma made it home safely on Friday.
- wedding Saturday - still enjoying leftovers
- Sunday we enjoyed a family visit at my brother's house - probably the last before they move
- Ordered pizza for dinner, with a gluten free one for Brian. He liked it, but he's counting days until we can start reintroducing wheat into his diet. 27.
- And then another visit in the evening at my cousin Susan's, capped off with a sauna
- Did a Costco run this morning. Good way to start a rainy Monday.
- Got school backpacks and shoes ordered before lunch.
Now to make some lists.
I'm going out of town with the kids this coming weekend (headed to Boyne and the Petosky area), but we're still not sure what's going to happen with my father-in-law so I have to pack and plan accordingly. I'm doing my best to be prepared for all possible scenarios.
My husband, sister-in-law and nephew are over half way home from their weekend trip as I type.
Greg is super busy with work this week.
Never a dull moment....
Whew! I'm exhausted reading your list. I love that balloon picture behind the trees.

Such a pretty picture of Karen, but also chuckling at Nicki's finger pointing. Must have been a good conversation! :)
