Interesting trip. Not very often you can get into the water at Bette Gris when it is not bitterly cold. Then, to top it off, you have to fight the black flies. It is a beautiful spot though. My mother and father took us there when we were very young. I would say it was in the late 1930s - and I have enjoyed that spot all through these years - took my husband-to-be there when we were courting. We went there many times when our children were young, and then we camped there with our children when they got a little older. Also spent many years at Lac La Belle - fishing, and deer hunting - and my father even shot a black bear there in the mid-1950s when we stayed at Yalmer & Mary Pelli's camp (which was jointly owned by Hilda and Ahti Salo). Many, many memories of that area of Michigan.
