After a long couple months of Greg working a lot of overtime, including Saturdays, he's been taking a few to himself again. I ran Mark to soccer yesterday, where we got through the first half before the thunder started, and Greg got some play time out in the garage.
He still has to get himself a set of blacksmith tongs and gloves, but he was anxious to play. Mark roasted marshmallows for smores, and Greg twisted a railroad spike.
I stood in the doorway taking pictures and found myself unable to resist mentioning a few motherly safety concerns. And then I backed away.
Now I'm making a new list of project ideas....
-------------
Other stuffs:
- Can we be done with grey and rain?
- I've been on shuttle-schedule duty overtime as Wendy's car (the one we just purchased the end of summer) has been in the shop. The transmission went.
- It was the longest wait ever, waiting for Greg to get to her on the side of the highway 20 miles away when she called last Sunday. Parenting is not for wimps.
- And cell phones are still the best invention ever. We didn't have those when I was her age. I walked the walk to more than a couple public phones in my day.
- Enjoyed another family wedding last evening - and enjoyed visits with cousins from both sides of the family.
- Mark has decided that he likes weddings. He's always trying to puzzle out how who is related to who.
- As I introduced him to my cousin Steve last night, Steve paused and said "Wow, he reminds me of Uncle Rick" and was surprised we'd never heard that before. But now that he's mentioned it, I see it. More in mannerisms and stance than looks I think, and it makes me smile.
- Greg got a pile of pears into the dehydrator yesterday while I was at the wedding. The house smells good this morning. We're in a race to get all the pears in while we can. Great for cereal, backpacking, snacks....
- On the schedule for this week - last week of soccer for the season, more rain, maybe another 5K (I've not committed yet), archery is on our calendar for three evenings, more hunting preparations for Greg (He's going for the first time since he was a kid - if anyone is selling any gear - let us know), fall services, fiddle, a haircut (me), a harvest party and more.
- There might be a nap thrown in this afternoon.
Be good!
